When do you use cooking spray when baking?
I’m making pumpkin empanadas for my mother’s birthday, which is coming up soon. I’m making the dough from *scratch* and will be using butter in place of shortening. Since what I’m baking is made with butter, do I need to spray the baking sheet with cooking spray? Is it necessary or should I do it just in case? (The recipe calls for 6oz (1 1/2 sticks) of butter). Thanks in advance! ;D
Here’s the dough recipe:
3 cups all purpose flour
6oz (1 1/2 sticks) butter (cut in 12 pieces)
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
4 -5 TBS. water
Preparation:
Mix flour/ salt in a mixing bowl
Add butter, egg, and water
Form a ball and refrigerate for 30 min.
Roll out dough (dust with flour)
Cut out round shapes (4 in. diameter)
Use immediately or store in freezer for later
I have the filling recipe already.
I would just to be on the safe side…

I would spray it anyway..A light spray isn’t going to mess anything up..I would just make sure it’s original and not some flavored kind. When I’m baking something in the oven I ALWAYS use cooking spray to assure no sticking and everything turns out fine.
